Modern Political Prisoners in America

E-mail Print PDF

When I was growing up, I learned in school that one of the reasons the United States of America was better than the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics was because we didn't hold political prisoners in our jails. That was something the bad, bad communists did. That was something that was done in communist countries to keep dissidents in line and to silence them. Such a thing could never be done in America. I don't know if this is still taught in the schools, but if it is then I believe our children are being grossly misinformed. The United States of America has become the leading nation when it comes to jailing its citizens, and the vast majority of them have been jailed for non violent crimes. We are, in effect, being jailed by the political class for disobeying rules they have deigned necessary, not for actions that have harmed another human being or his property. Most of those jailed are, in effect, political prisoners.

The federal government of the United States of America has declared war on its own civilians and the majority of those spending time in jail are prisoners of that war. They call this war many things, the war on drugs and the war on terror being the most prevalent, but it is really a war fought against people in order to try to keep a concept hidden from the public consciousness. That concept is the concept of freedom, the concept that individuals own their own bodies, their own labor, their own property and best know how to run their own lives.

The power elite and their political puppets use such emotionally charged terms as "war" to elicit specific responses from the populace. They want people to believe that anyone with a differing or divergent point of view from that of the establishment is a bad person. They want people to believe that anyone with a difference of opinion is a menace to society and a threat to all that is good and just. Nothing could be further from the truth. Most of the people who are spending time in prison are not only ordinary non violent folk who just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, they are likely kind, loving individuals with family and friends who care for them and miss them dearly. Many of them were likely hard working, productive members of society until they were caught or reported breaking one of the multitude of "laws" created by control freaks who seem to see us common folk as cash cows meant to be milked for their benefit.

This war has spilled across the borders of the United States and is affecting the population worldwide. The DEA seems to think it has the right to enforce the laws of the United States in whatever country it deems necessary. I don't know that the DEA has the right to do this, but it certainly has the power thanks to your tax dollars. A good example of this is the case of Marc Emery. Mr. Emery is a Canadian. He was simply selling marijuana seeds. This is a practice that is not illegal in Canada. Yet it is illegal in the US, though hardly ever enforced. Mr. Emery was set up by the DEA in a sting operation in which he sold seed across the border. The DEA then used its power as a federal agency of the United States to coerce the federal Canadian government into extraditing Mr. Emery to the United States.

Mr. Emery's business harmed no one. It only maybe hurt the feelings of a few bureaucrats who felt perhaps Mr. Emery's opinions were becoming too popular. You see, Marc Emery not only sold marijuana seeds, he ran a magazine named Cannabis Culture and used the money to fund marijuana legalization activism worldwide. He believes, as I do, that everyone owns their own bodies and can determine for themselves which substances to use and which to avoid. He would likely still be free if he had just pocketed his profits rather than using them to promote his marijuana legalization efforts. It appears as if Marc Emery was targeted not for his illegal activity, but for his political activism. And they had to use an unethical sting setup to make it look legitimate.

The same is true of tax protestors. People fighting the unethical, unconstitutional income tax have been forced into prison despite the obvious unpopularity of this theft. Even though the vast majority of the populace seems to be brainwashed into thinking the federal income tax is legitimate, the arguments against it are intriguing and compelling on both legal and moral grounds. Ed and Elaine Brown were two such protestors who wished to make such arguments during their trail. The federal judge presiding over their trail denied them the opportunity to make over thirty such arguments in their defense. As a result, they realized the court system was rigged in favor of the state and refused to take part in it any longer.

Ed, a contractor, and Elaine, a dentist, gathered together such a following that the Feds determined that the only way to get to them would be to unethically infiltrate their supporters. It appears as if the Feds are worried about their image and don't want to be thought of by the general public as the violent agency they are. They want people to forget such incidents as Waco and Ruby Ridge, but a leopard cannot change its spots. Ed and Elaine Brown were productive members of society until the Feds put them in unproductive prison cells.

People such as Ed and Elaine Brown and Wesley Snipes aren't in jail because they didn't pay their taxes, they're in jail because they refused to obey. They refused to knuckle under to the coercion and threats of the federal government and decided to exercise their rights. They refused to cower in fear before the political gang that runs this nation and decided to show them for what they are, a violent gang of thugs who believe they own us and a portion of our labor. These are arguments the authoritarian power mongers don't want to hear because they're true, and the truth is sometimes hard to face. They would rather do harm to those who have never harmed another than face the reality that they are greedy failures in a coercive monopoly funded by theft and unable to compete in a legitimate marketplace.

What happens when the practices used by the policing agencies are used against them? Barry Cooper is a good example to look at. A former narcotics officer, he created a sting operation to catch the police breaking the law and disobeying the constitution. His police training served him well as he had learned to setup drug dealers. He filmed the police breaking their own laws and streamed it to the web in such a way so that their guilt could not be denied. This angered the cops. As a result, Barry Cooper and his family have been harassed by authorities ever since. Candi, his wife, lost custody of her eight year old son. They have both been arrested and charged with filing a false police report. They await trial on said charges. It seems what's good for the goose is not good for the gander. It seems that the police can setup and harass ordinary folk to catch them breaking laws, but when ordinary folk do the same to the police, the ordinary folk better watch out.

The system is plagued with unfairness. It is set up so that those with authority aren't burdened with any personal responsibility for their decisions. They are not held accountable for their actions even when such actions harm others or are financially unsound. It takes those who rail against it and make honest, sensible arguments and silences them by removing them to cold prison cells. We might not have the cruel and unforgiving gulags the Russians had under communist rule in the last century, but we have prisons populated with political prisoners who don't even know they are political prisoners. Our government has interrupted and ruined the lives of millions for its political power, expediency and agenda.

The war against the people needs to end. The federal government needs to step aside. The common folk need to reestablish their lust for freedom. The bureaucrats need to start respecting the rights of the individual once again. The federal government needs to be recognized for the monstrous mechanism of tyranny it has become. Hopefully, the cogs inside that mechanism will start refusing to allow it to run smoothly. We should be allowed to spend our money as we see fit, to smoke what we want to smoke, to say what we wish to say, and to live our lives as we wish to live them without fear of government intrusion and imprisonment. The disobedience of a few have shown us the ugly truth. The disobedience of many will help set us free.

    Szandor:

An article such as this "Modern Political Prisoners in America" is a disservice to the target reality. It has the effect of bringing out in the reader: "Oh, in a country this big thing must be OK with so few incidents"

Well, the facts that hit the spinal cord are:

    1. If it is claimed you owe $5,000 to any government agency (may be $3,000 now) they flag your passport and you are not allowed to leave the country. If you attempt to do so they confiscate your passport. This could be a claim from IRS; Child Support; Traffic Court; Property Tax Judgment; etc. As of 2007 this circumstance had 16.5 million Americans flagged to be stopped from leaving the country (captives). Legislation was introduced (but did not pass) to lower the amount to $500. If that had been done close to forty-million Americans would have been captive.

    2. The prisons and court system generates for all of its players as of 2007 a conservative 1.8 trillion dollars a year. It is clearly an industry that perpetuates itself for any reason due to the money involved. There is no accident the USA has the highest jail and prison population per-populace of no equal in the world. It is VERY profitable to do so. Local governments tax the people to pay for it and then the same local governments invest in the same industry whereby they have a massive guaranteed profit.

    3. The court system is not there to levy justice, it is there to extort money and property from all caught in that snare. Done so at threat of arrest warrant issued if you do not participate. As of 2007 the court system issued for the year 4.6 arrest warrants to those that for whatever reason refused to participate with having money or property stolen from them.

    4. If you resit in force, they will kill you. If you resist with no participation in the fraud they will come to where you are or attempt to track you down and if you are located throw you in jail. If you confront in reply with law; statute; or ordnance clearly on your side it is arbitrarily ignored and you are stripped of whatever you have that they can get their hands on.(two wolves and a sheep deciding on what to have for diner)

Reality is: They are operating an industry that generates 1.6 trillion dollars a year. They have set up a structure that enforces massive theft from anyone targeted; the victims; and at the expense of all to the tune of the largest industry in the USA. The whole show is run by attorneys chuckling behind closed doors as they destroy lives; steal wealth; and stuff their back pockets with the booty taken. Each patting each other on the back as they cover for each other to make sure their is no consequences for their own criminal behavior. The few honest and ethical that may be left within this structure are isolated and left in their own as oddities to be ignored with the least amount of cooperation given to by the self-enriched predominate players running the show as of today.

Every hear the expression: "Don't take a knife to a gun fight"? Well here they have created the circumstances for all of bringing paper to a gun fight, paper that is arbitrarily ignored by them as they use the threat of the gun against you if you do not participate.

Is this true? Did you really think that? I would have thought that my article would have elicited the response of "This is terrible, such a thing should not be happening in a fair and just society." I would have thought men of conscious would have felt that such injustice against one is an injustice against everyone. Wrong is wrong and injustice is injustice whether it is done against one of my fellow human beings or against many. Perhaps that is a problem we as humans have, we do not try hard enough to protect the individual, the criminals have to be screwing with many before we take action against them.

One for all and all for one as the saying goes.

Spent seven months over in South Africa back in 1987. I stayed in an accommodation hotel in Pretoria (the capital). There was a TV room in the main lobby where 50 to 60 would watch TV on a Saturday morning. The main door to the street were at the back of the room. Well one Saturday morning they had a documentary on about how a species of bird was saved from extinction out in the bush. When the points off how the little birdie was being extinguished, all cringed with emotions of "how horrible".

Well, over the one hour that the documentary was on I noticed driving by the front doors which were wide open and counted at least 12 blue barred window prison buses stuffed with about 150 + native Africans being transported to the central jail.

Do you know how many people in the room noticed the same passing by the doors? One, me. The rest were watching the great effort shown on how the little birdies were saved.

So the point I was emphasizing was: Not a singular or infrequent event but the severity and consistency that the people are under attack. A rock rolling down the mountain side people watch with curiosity. An avalanche coming down the mountainside creates a different reaction from the viewer.

The government boys want all to think just "a" rock is rolling down maintaining the "curiosity" reaction (or a controlled lack of reaction from the population) when in fact an avalanche has been consistently falling for several decades now.

A good article written that caught my attention several years ago that I posted to my site that gives a general story line of what is taking place nationally was called: The Price of Free Corn. You may find it an interesting read - http://cafr1.com/Pigs/Pigs.html

What a cute story. So, you FINALLY figured it out, did ya? Serves ya right. Voluntary and wilful ignorance always exacts a price, often far beyond the efforts to keep the truth at bay. By the way, you are aware that the usa government propped up, financed and actively supported the Bolshevik revolution in Russia, which of course makes them ACCOMPLICES to communism....so why would anyone think that "it cant happen here" Stupid fools, if you play with pigs, you automatically forfeit the right to complain about getting smelly and muddy. And no, you aren't allowed to wash off the mud, the water rights were given to the authorities, remember, you paid for it with YOUR TAXES. Its all for the good of society.

  • Doc  - Re: if you play with pigs...

Which is why good American patriots must stop voting!
The feds exist by "the consent of the governed." Why do you continue to give your consent? You prove you agree with them by participating in the voting thing. Yet every time, no matter who is elected, the unelected and therefore impossible-to-unelected bureaucrats keep doing what they do to us without so much as a reach-around. The ONLY solution is the end of the failed experiment, and the ONLY way to accomplish that is to simply allow it. Turn your guns into plowshares we'll not need them. The federal gov't is insolvent and will collapse under its own weight eventually. But don't fear anarchy! We have 50 state government's that aren't going anywhere, and untold numbers of city, county and municipal governments operating fine right now. The only things that will change is our taxes will go way down and our money will be worth much more.

Anarchy sounds good on paper, but in real, day 2 day living, you must not discount or ignore human nature, didn't you read about the French Revolution? True, although I agree with you concerning the meaninglessness of the vote, the free for all that anarchy devolves into, no matter what the original goal might have been, cancels out any so called benefits that anarchy might initially bring.

If I may suggest an excellent read: The CONstitution That Never Was, by Ralph Boryszewski. How is it that a local library would not accept this book?

    1. It is "old" as they said. Published in 1995 does not fit to their policy of "oldest publishing date five years back"

    2. It does not have an official book review done either by Book Review Magazine or any other "reputable" entity. It didn't matter that I showed them the credentials of the man being on " "The Global Directory of Who's Who" (2005-06 Edition and 2009 Outstanding Intellectuals Of The 21st Century, 5th edition (Great Britain).

However, I was able to track it down via "Interlibrary Loan" and found that there is one copy at Beeghly Library Heidelberg College, Tiffin, Ohio donated by Carl Klopfstein Professor Emeritus of History 1998.

Mr. Boryszewski is completing his second book and he says he would like to self publish it (as he has done with the first one, because there was no publisher willing to publish it being afraid from a lawsuit), the second book should be completed by the end of summer 2010. Keep in mind that this gentleman is around 92 years old! His knowledge and life experience is priceless.

You can order books directly from him: Ralph Boryszewski, Founder Foundation For Rights, P.O. Box 17699. Rochester, NY, 14617

I doubt if you've seen anything yet. Once Martial Law is in effect, there will be a Wackenhut FEMA camp in every neighborhood. The state of mind in America is almost universally pathological and predatory so there will always be enough of the weak minded and compromised to imprison the few who have the temerity to resist. There are too many historical examples where the 'people' simply collapse into slavery. No fight left in them.

Are we on the verge of a large number of new technologies that will turn labor loose and allow for the creation of an excess abundance of wealth?

If so, how shall the state be transformed then?

Lenin and H.G. Wells discussed that issue nearly a century ago and they agreed that the state would not need the force factor in a condition of abundance.

Will welding nailing painting and grease guns employed to create and maintain the world of the goods finally replace the need for ordinary shooting guns?

um... we aren't the "People". I get tearful when hearing a good version of the National Anthem. We all long to identify with something. What's the difference between that and a sad movie?

If you're going to stand up for some element of "society", it behooves you to know the composition of society. How can we, who were wrong since our inception, stand up against wrong?

Apathy is suicide. Passion is life. Most old people are cowards. They survived by selling themselves and suppressing their inner hero. They are champions of Peace at the cost of Justice and Freedom. Oddly, the young with long potential lives to live are brave and willing to die rather than break under the totalitarian boot. No one will remember the loyal voters. There children despise them and they can never be satisfied. And in the distant time when sentient life rises again and their time capsule pyramid is discovered all THIS will recur. There are Beasts and Devils and there are Angels and God.
